Episode 01: Introduction
“Community” is a word that has been thrown around with such reckless abandon that few understand what it truly means. We are all a part of so many different communities: family, work, friends, social structures and even daily commutes. Because we are each a part of such a wide range of collectives, we have allowed our “community focus” to fracture. We no longer recognise the value that those around us bring to our lives, nor do we actively engage with the responsibility we have when contributing to the lives of others. With times being so complicated and polarising, it feels like many people have escaped within themselves. The fear of facing exposure, criticism, fault or harm, has forced many people to limit their public engagement to the bare minimum. Although this is understandable I don’t feel like its going to aid in improving the situation. The best way to design a solution is to face the problem head on.
In The Outpost, we will contemplate how we got to this point. We will focus on what has contributed to all the political hostility between people that used to care and agree. Once we understand how things have fallen apart, we are able to apply remedy. When we know better we can choose to do better.
This is going to be quite a journey.
Hang on to your heads!.
