A Reason To Read
It all begins with an idea. Throughout recorded and observed history, every accomplishment mankind has achieved began with a thought. A thought of improving, fixing, destroying, avoiding, communicating and surviving. Thoughts have power when followed by action and purpose. This means we need to ensure that we have as much context as possible. We need to understand what came before, what happened after and its reasons for happening. If we choose to neglect the lessons learned from our collective history or ignore the counsel of those who care, we’re doomed to repeat the same mistakes.
Here are a few books that have been instrumental in contextualising my understanding of the world. It’s imperative that we exercise humility. We need to cultivate the willingness to engage with the unknown. For when we choose to come together and learn from one another, the world can be a healthier place.
